Warhawk Crew uses Slack to share updates and reminders as well as help team families stay connected.  Slack is the quickest way to communicate to rowers and parents about changes to practice schedules, especially during on the water season when weather can change quickly.

If you aren’t connected to us on Slack, contact Warhawk Crew Communications and ask to be signed up on both. Let us know who your rower is when you do so.

Since we’ll be using Slack to notify families about emergency such as practice cancellations and other announcements, we recommend using Slack on your mobile device. You can download Slack for iOS here or Slack for Android here.

The following list of the Channels on Slack have been created to facilitate communication about Warhawk Crew.  Note: Anyone can create a channel, which is why the list below may not be complete.  

Anyone may ask to join any channel.  Board Members have access to all channels for purposes of oversight.  After every season, year specific channels will be Archived. 

Warhawk Crew Team Relevant Slack Channels:

It is typical that coaches create team specific channels to communicate with their team and specific boats (later in the season).  Sometimes these are not public, so the Team members are invited by the coaches to these channels.  These channels usually include discussions about workouts, lineups, and other team or boat specific information.  

The following default channels have been created based on our standard category line-up. Parents & athletes are asked to join their appropriate channel to stay abreast of any important communications.  

Standard Slack Channels:

• #General: Everyone is automatically subscribed to the “General” channel.  However, posting on “General” is limited to Board Members.  The General Channel is where team wide information will be posted.  For example, team dinners, practice cancellations, fundraising opportunities, volunteer opportunities, operation workdays.
• #Parents: This is a channel to ask questions or communicate with all crew parents and the Board.
• #Carpools: This channel is useful to parents who want to arrange carpools for their athletes.
• #Pictures: This channel is where parents and students post pictures.
• #Random: Random thoughts & questions.
• #Novice_Parent: This is a private channel for new parents moderated by the JMCBO’s new parent liaison, Tim Ballew, and the JMCBO President.
