Paul Allbright
Head Coach
This is Coach Paul’s third year as Head Coach and his fifth year coaching with James Madison High School Crew. In his first season with the team, he coached the Novice Women’s 4 to a gold medal at the Ted Phoenix Regatta which was the first novice gold in team history. In 2009, he coached the Varsity Women’s 4 to a 15th place finish at the SRAA National Regatta and the 2nd Women’s 4 to a bronze medal at the VSRC Championship Regatta. Last season, he coached the Varsity Women to three team history making finishes: 1st place in the Varsity Women’s 8 Petite Finals at the VSRC Championship Regatta, 4th place in the Junior 8 event at the Stotesbury Regatta (best finish in team history), and 2nd place in the Junior 8 at the SRAA National Regatta (first medal in team history). His Varsity Women’s 4 also finished 1st in the Petite Finals at the VSRC Championship Regatta and qualified for a spot at SRAA Nationals.
He was born and raised in Fairfax where he attended Fairfax High School. While in high school he swam and rowed competitively receiving letters all four years. He served as Captain of the Fairfax Crew team for his junior and senior years. Following a championship win his novice year he went to row in the Varsity Men’s Four the rest of his high school career. Coach Paul went on to study Administration of Justice and Psychology at George Mason University. Currently he is working as a contractor doing work for the Federal Government and looks forward to another positive season building off last year’s successes.
