Jameson O’Brien
Lead Boys Coach
Coach O'Brien began his rowing career at George Mason University where he spent three and a half years training under former U.S. National Team member Robert Spousta. While at Mason he was the stroke seat of the Varsity 4+ as well as the bow seat of the Varsity 8+, which competed on the national club level at the prestigious Head of the Charles, and Dad Vail Regattas. Coach O'Brien also is an avid single sculler, which he continues to this day. He has spent two prior successful seasons coaching the James Madison HS Men's Novices. In 2009, he helped lead the Men's Novices to a nearly undefeated season, culminating in a state title at the Ted Phoenix Regatta. In 2010, he led the Men's Novices to another successful season and Madison's second consecutive Novice 8+ state title.
Coach O'Brien is a Northern Virginia native; he grew up in Prince William County, where he attended Forest Park H.S. While in High School Coach O'Brien developed his athletic background as a swimmer for both his H.S. team as well as a year round competitive team. He attended GMU in the fall of 05' with the intent on continuing his swimming career. He graduated from George Mason University January '10, with a major in Information Technology. He now works as a information security consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton, a goverment consulting firm based out of Reston.
