The JMCBO has been very busy at work doing the behind the scenes work getting things ready for the new year. Here are a couple of highlights:
- The fundraising coordinator has been very busy. She has developed an exciting new fundraiser: the Giant Gift Card Program, which was launched in early October (several rowers have already raised around $200 for the crew team -- start now and don't miss out! Click here for an order form). The second raffle ticket sales are ongoing. See details on the website under the fundraising tab.
- The Crew Membership Handbook has been substantially revised. It is available on the website in the member’s only section. It is worth looking at if you never have (or did not even know it existed!)
- A crew banner is being made that will hang in the gym along side all of the other Madison Sports Team. We appreciate the Madison Activities Office in providing the Mad Crew Team with this well-deserved recognition.
- Operations has been very busy with repairs, equipment maintenance and replacement. We have sent two shells to Massachusetts for repairs, purchased 5 ergs (thanks to members scouting Craigs List and other sites for good deals on used ergs), fixed the trailer, got a great deal on two used "fixer-upper" launches for $100 each. A lot of all year around behind the scenes work is required to get the boats and our kids safely on the water.
- We have a new much larger shed for the team at the school thanks to the generous donation of one of the parents on the team!
All and all, a tremendous amount of volunteer effort is required to put our kids on the water. Please consider using your available time and talents in support of the team as needs arise throughout the year.
